"In a swirling universe, with a fixed medium and irrational logic, Michael Potter’s latest gem, Garden Portal Almanac, lends a quick guide to the sensuality of escapism. You can’t get there without taste. Something Potter yields in abundance. Progressive rock, electronic counter, psychedelic pop, and pure art coalesce into a bubble of wind, swimming through the air, layering the mind and blowing muscles into the movement of a post-indie universe. This is a tape to dream to, to travel to, and to keep by your side with your Sony Walkman—circa ‘96. It’s still kicking, and Potter has reached it so: a beautifully epic little cassette for a beautifully epic little Walkman." - New Noise Magazine

"Athens, Georgia, musician Michael Potter has recorded and released cosmic drones and experimental noise under the auspices of The Electric Nature for some time, but he’d often gather some fresh inspiration that would lead to a song that just didn’t fit into the mold he had developed for that particular moniker. And so he decided to cull together some of these songs that just didn’t feel right for release under that specific musical designation and release them under his own name. These songs feel far more pop- and rock-oriented, while still possessing that ramshackle radiance that marks his prior work. Hesitant to give away all their secrets at once, these tracks form an immense wall of DIY noise and melody that immediately imprints on the brain and body of whoever hears it.

With the release of his latest collection of songs, “Garden Portal Almanac,” Potter creates an operatic ode to the pop-rock influences that have laid dormant in his head and heart over the past decade or so. This tape is a monster, full of blaring percussive jolts and guitars that rip apart the air in front of your face. There’s an inherent complexity that values experimentation and variety over comfort, and Potter fully embraces this wild musicality in all its ferocious nature. Psych rock, shoegaze and warped pop rhythms explode and contract at regular intervals, creating one of the most dynamic rock records I’ve heard all year. It’s a euphoric victory lap for Potter-and a well-deserved one at that." - Nooga.com
